About me

I am a Senior Researcher and the Research Director of the Conflict Patterns and Environments Department (CoPE) at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). Since 2017, I have served as Deputy Editor for the Journal of Peace Research.

My research focuses on the causes and consequences of mass mobilization. I investigate when and why people take to the streets to demand change, and what determines the success or failure of these movements. I also study how conflicts shape the attitudes of ordinary people, and why some post-conflict peace processes end in war while others result in lasting peace.
